Maddalenas has gluten-free cheesecakes!
At the request of our friends with the Celiac support groups , we now make a Gluten Free Cheesecake! —and they have been flying off the shelves during this holiday season.
As with all Maddalena products, we use the finest natural ingredients, from the highest quality cream cheese, fresh eggs and pure bourbon vanilla.
To best meet the commitment of providing a gluten-free product, the gluten-free cakes replace our traditional graham cracker crust with a new gluten-free graham-style crust and have made the following pledge:
We pledge to keep this product gluten, wheat and nut free.
Although wheat products and nuts are used in our facility,
we strive to maintain separation and handling practices
that will ensure a pure product for the benefit of our customers.
Here are the ingredients in our new Graham Style GLUTEN FREE CRUST:
Pea starch, non hydrogenated shortening (palm fruit and/or canola), potato starch, brown rice flour, brown sugar, sweet rice flour, tapioca starch, water, rice bran, sugar, blackstrap molasses, honey, glucose, salt, sodium bicarbonate pea protein, vanilla, sodium carboxy methylcellulose, pea fiber, guar gum, insulin, soy lecithin, mono calcium phosphate.
Maddalenas Gluten-free Cheesecakes are available in the following flavors;

- Pumpkin or Key Lime (when in-season)

Cooking Demo at Old York Cellars
Thank you to all our dear friends who visited with us at Old York Cellars, a winery in Ringoes, NJ, on Sunday March 13, 2011. What a pleasant day at a beautiful site! The folks at Old York Cellars splendidly paired wines to accent the cuisine of Maddalenas’ Chef Chris Georgett.
Hor d’oeuvres dishes included:
Homemade Sweet Potato Piergoies Sauteed in Brown Butter with Diced Prosciutto Garnish
and
Chilled Beef Tenderloin & Herbed Cream Cheese Wrapped Around Fresh Asparagus Tips — pictured below on fluted black plates.
The entree was Velvet Chicken Szechuan: Diced Chicken Breast marinated in sherry, Sauteed in Sesame oil, topped with a Spicy Szechuan Sauce.
For dessert Janet applied her special talents to gracefully decorate a two-layered Maddalena’s Gourmet Cheesecake with a fine cream cheese icing accented with luscious strawberries and fresh blueberries. A delight to taste and to look at as you can see from the photo below.

LIVESTRONG cancer fundraiser
Sister of Gene Maddalena, East Amwell man who died of cancer, takes part in LIVESTRONG cancer fundraiser

EAST AMWELL TWP. — On the first anniversary of the death of her brother, Gene Maddalena, Anna Marie Maddalena-Gonzalez and her husband Ed will participate in the LIVESTRONG Challenge in Austin, Texas.
“On the weekend of Oct. 23, we are going to ride our bikes 45 miles in the hills of Austin. Our goal is not just to participate in the challenge, but to honor Gene as well as the millions of others whom this disease affects by raising $5,000 for the fight against cancer,” she said.
Gene, proprietor with his wife, Janet, of Maddalena’s catering and cheesecake business in East Amwell, was first found to have cancer in 2001. “After a long and difficult battle with this terrible disease, Gene lost his fight. He was 53,” Anna Marie said. The family grew up in the Croton section of Raritan Township.
Through the challenge, “we are picking a fight with cancer and uniting with others who are interested in making cancer a global priority,” she said.
