'Favorite Maddalena's Cheesecake & Catering Memory' Contest Winner

To help celebrate our 40th Anniversary, we held a special contest and asked our customers to share their favorite Maddalena's Cheesecake & Catering memories with us. After reading so many wonderful stories, here is the final winner's favorite memory.

"In July 1985, I went out on a limb and hired the Maddalenas to cater a large surprise party (150 people) for my husband. I was a bit terrified because it had to be special and the Maddalenas were very young and only in business for 2-3 years. We ordered filets and chicken. Day of party: Gene and Janet arrived and set everything up perfectly. Then, during dinner, I started worrying about how good the filets could possibly be when they most likely were brought in a steam table, already cooked. I looked for Gene to express my concern. Where did I find him? ...in my garage with 6 huge iron stoves, cooking each filet to the doneness as ordered by each guest. That was it! I was in love with this man and woman, who, in my opinion, were the very best!!! And that was the beginning of a wonderful friendship, and I hired them for many occasions after that! Now, after 37 years, I still have not met ANY giving, kind, hardworking people like Gene and Janet." --P. Curlett
